Tottenham ‘still one step away’ from finding ‘SON helper’ in Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur are targeting Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher at the end of the transfer window.
On January 1 (KST), global media outlet Sky Sports reported that “Tottenham want to sign Gallagher on transfer deadline day” and “Chelsea have rejected a £40 million ($66.6 million) bid from West Ham for the midfielder this transfer window.
Gallagher has been in the Chelsea academy since the age of eight. After being called up to the Chelsea senior team, he went on loan to Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace. He showed signs of progression with each team.
The 2021/22 season was highlighted by a loan spell at Crystal Palace. Gallagher scored eight goals and provided four assists in 39 appearances. He caught the eye of then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and joined Chelsea’s 2022/23 tour of the United States. He impressed Tuchel and started the 2022/23 season at Chelsea.
However, the season didn’t start well for Gallagher. He came on as a substitute in the first two games of the season and was mediocre. He started against Leeds United in the third round but struggled. He was sent off in the fourth round against Leicester City. He remained elusive for the rest of the season.
His performances this season have been so-so. West Ham were initially approached by Gallagher, but the deal fell through. His loyalty is immense, having 토토 come through the ‘Holy Ghost’ youth ranks. “It’s a proud moment (to wear the captain’s armband),” he said after the second round of the League Cup last season. I want to keep improving and help the club.”
Tottenham are currently closing in on a move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Fulham. They are reportedly targeting Gallagher to bolster their midfield. Spurs will likely have to offer at least £40 million to land Gallagher. They will also have to convince Gallagher of his loyalty to Chelsea.
