Munich ask Man City for ‘loan’…but the winner is Barcelona
Bayern Munich have made an enquiry about signing Joao Cancelo on loan.
Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Germany’s Sky Sports, tweeted on Monday (Jan. 1), “That’s right. The Bavarians have approached Manchester City about signing Kancelu on loan.”
Kancelu was once a key player for City. In his first year at the club, he was little more than a rotation player behind Kyle Walker, but after changing positions under Pep Guardiola, he has enjoyed a second wind. His football intelligence and playmaking made him an integral part of City’s tactics.
However, last season saw a sharp decline in his position. After the World Cup in Qatar, his playing time dwindled as he was pushed aside by the likes of Neymar and Rico Luis, and he was unhappy and asked for a transfer. Guardiola, concerned about the deteriorating atmosphere in the team, granted Kancelu’s request, and he went on loan to Munich. After failing to establish himself under Julian Nagelsmann, Kancelu was given more than enough playing time under Thomas Tuchel.
He then returned to City. But there was no place for him at City. Guardiola never seriously considered how to use him. He joined them on the Asian tour, but that didn’t guarantee him a permanent place.
This is why he has been linked with a move to Barcelona. Coach Xavi Hernandez was looking for reinforcements at right fullback and identified Cesc as the right man. The negotiations were somewhat difficult. This was due to Barcelona”s financial problems. However, an agreement was soon reached. European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted with his signature ‘Here We Go’: “Kancelu is heading to Barcelona. It’s a loan deal with a full transfer option. It’s only a matter of time”, confirming the transfer.
However, there is no official word yet. Financial issues have not been resolved. “Kancelu has a verbal agreement with Barcelona, but a medical has not 안전놀이터 yet been scheduled,” said Plettenberg. At this stage, Barcelona cannot sign him,” said Plettenberg.
This is where Munich’s offer comes in. However, Kancelu only wants to join Barcelona. “He only wants to go to Barcelona,” said Spanish journalist Tony Humamarti. He hopes to finalize the deal today.”
If he gets his wish, Kancelu will become a Barcelona player. Journalist Gerard Romero, who is well versed in Barcelona news, confirmed the move, saying, “He will be a Barcelona player.”
