SEOUL, South Korea (Yonhap) (Yonhap) – U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour rookie Hae Ran Lee maintained her top-10 position on the second day of the Evian Championship ($6.5 million purse).Hae-Ran Lee shot an even-par 71 with four birdies and four bogeys in the second round of the tournament at Evian Resort Golf Club (Par 71, 6,527 yards) in Evian-les-Bains, France, on Monday (Aug. 28).With a median score of 4-under 138, Haziran is tied for seventh, down one spot from the previous day.She is three strokes behind leader Celine Boutier (FRA) at 7-under 135.Hahiran leads the Rookie of the Year race with 525 points this season after finishing first overall in the qualifying series last December.While she has yet to win, she has settled into the LPGA Tour with sportstotozonecom five top-10 finishes in 14 events. In her last major, she finished eighth at the U.S. Women’s Open earlier this month.On the day, Hae-ran was able to hold her own in challenging conditions with winds gusting to around 30 kilometers per hour.Starting on the 10th hole, she got off to a slow start with back-to-back bogeys on the 10th (par-4) and 11th (par-4), but bounced back with three straight birdies on the 15th through 17th and a bogey on the 18th (par-5) to get to even par.She dropped a stroke on the back nine after a bogey on the first (par-4), but made it up on the ninth (par-5).”It was a tough start because it was so windy. The pin placement was difficult and the rough was getting tougher and tougher,” she reflected, “but I’m happy that I didn’t lose any strokes today and finished well.””At the U.S. Women’s Open, no matter how well I tried to hit it, it was so difficult that I was desperate to save (par),” she said, “so I’ll have to play well in the next two rounds and make as many birdie chances as possible.”
