Mesh Effects Hit MLS with a Bang

Messi has three goals and an assist in two games in the U.S.
Buying a jersey is a no-brainer

Lionel Messi (Argentina) is taking Major League Soccer (MLS) by storm in the United States.

Messi, who left Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer transfer window, is playing what is effectively the last game of his soccer career in the United States.

David Beckham (England) wears the pink jersey of Inter Miami, where he is a co-owner.

While major European players like Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nasr) and Karim Benzema (Al Ittihad) have flocked to the Saudi league in droves, Messi has chosen his own path.

America is in a Messi frenzy. Messi scored two goals and provided an assist in Miami’s 4-0 win over Atlanta United in the second leg of their 2023 League Cup group stage match at DRV PNK Stadium in Florida, USA, on June 26.

Earlier, in the first leg against Cruz Azul (Mexico), he scored a dramatic free-kick winner in second-half stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory.

He has three goals and one assist in two games in a Miami uniform, proving his worth.

The Messi effect is even more pronounced off the field. In the American professional sports market, which is dominated by the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), and National Basketball Association (NBA), Messi’s mere presence has overshadowed MLS.

Miami’s matches have been sold out with people flocking to see Messi, and celebrities from all walks of life have stamped their faces.

NBA star LeBron James (Lakers), Hollywood star Kim Kardashian, and world-renowned women’s tennis star Serena Williams were among those who attended Messi’s debut against Cruz Azul.

The Miami jersey with Messi’s number and name on it is not immediately available.

According to CNN, all of Messi’s current jerseys are sold out and you’ll have to wait until October at the earliest to get one. It costs $160.

Even after Messi announced his intention to come to Miami last month, retailers sold out of their six-month supply of Miami jerseys.

“It’s really unprecedented,” said an Adidas representative who works on Miami’s jerseys, 스포츠토토 “and we’re working hard to make sure fans can get their jerseys online or in-store as soon as possible.
