The ‘190 billion monster striker’ race is on…PSG and now Liverpool have joined the fray
Despite the astronomical transfer fees, the competition is getting tougher.
“Liverpool, who are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the summer transfer window, have entered the race to sign Victor Osimhen (25, Napoli),” Spanish outlet Fichajes reported on Wednesday.
Osimhen is currently considered one of the best strikers in the world. Last season, he scored 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions and was considered a key player in Napoli’s title run alongside Kim Min-jae.
This season has been no different. He has 16 goals and four assists in 29 games across all competitions. In his last four league games, he has scored three goals.
His performances have continued for the Nigerian national team. A member of the Nigerian national team since 2017, Osimhen led the team to a runner-up finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
His consistent performances have also put him on the radar of big clubs. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Chelsea, Manchester United (Man United), and Arsenal are all interested in signing him this summer.
The competition is getting fiercer. According to reports, Liverpool, who have struggled in attack this season, have put Osimhen on their list of potential targets this summer.
Liverpool are expected to make a major overhaul this summer. With Jürgen Klopp’s departure confirmed at the end of the season, Liverpool are preparing for a new era.
Signing a new striker is one of the Reds’ top targets this summer. Darwin Núñez, 24, has been unsatisfactory, and it’s widely believed that the Reds need 토토 to sign a top-class striker to replace him.
There is some chance that a deal could happen this summer. Osimhen has a buyout clause of €130 million. If another club were to pay that amount, Napoli wouldn’t be able to prevent him from leaving.
Liverpool have even found a way to finance the deal: “Liverpool will consider selling some of their players, such as Núñez, to raise the funds needed to sign Osimhen,” according to Fichajes.
However, they will have to compete with other clubs. With PSG, who have targeted Osimhen as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, 25, and their deep pockets, the competition is expected to be stiff.
