Qatar international striker Almoez Ali has surpassed the record of Iranian legend Ali Daee.
Hussein Amotta’s Jordan will take on Tintin Marquez’s Qatar in the final of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2023 Asian Cup Qatar at the Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar, at 0:00 a.m. EDT on Nov. 11. Jordan will be looking to reach the final for the first time ever and win their first title, while Qatar will be aiming for a second consecutive title after winning the 텍사스홀덤 2019 edition in the UAE.
The final could set a new record. Qatari striker Ali, who was the tournament’s top scorer (nine goals), will be looking to add to his tally of Asian Cup goals.
The current Asian Cup top scorer title belongs to Iran’s Daei, who has scored 14 goals in three Asian Cups. He scored eight goals in the 1996 tournament in the UAE, three in the 2000 tournament in Lebanon and three in the 2004 tournament in China, totaling 14 goals.
Qatar international striker Ali scored nine goals in the 2019 tournament in the UAE, breaking Daey’s record for most goals in a single tournament (eight). He led Qatar to the title in the last edition of the tournament and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
In this tournament, Ali scored two goals. His total for 2019 and 2023 is 11 goals. His chances of breaking the record aren’t great. He needs to score three goals in the final to overtake Daey. However, the Qatari media is betting on Ali to break the record.
