Kim has chance to win first major in 9 years 1 stroke off 3R lead
Angelique Kerber tied for third Lilia Vu-Charlie Hull in the lead
Hasn’t won a major since Evian in 2014
South Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim (28, Lotte) has a chance to win her first major on the Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour in nine years.
Kim shaved four strokes off her score in the third round of the AIG Women’s Open ($9 million) at Walton Heath Golf Club (par-72) in Surrey, England, 토토사이트 on Wednesday (Sept. 13) for an 8-under-par 208 total.
Kim made two bogeys on the day, but also made six birdies. She birdied the 15th, 16th, and 17th holes in a row to get back to even par.
After her round, Kim is tied for third place with Angel In (USA). She is one shot off the lead. Tied for the lead are Lilia Boo (USA) and Charlie Hull (England), both at 9-under par.
After finishing runner-up at the Scottish Open last week, Kim will be looking to build on her momentum. It’s been nine years since Kim won a major. She hasn’t won a major since winning the Evian Championship in 2014.
If she can pull off the upset, it will give her six career LPGA Tour victories and two majors.
Kim also became the sixth South Korean to win the event. Previous winners include In-Kyung Kim (2017), Inbee Park (2015), Ji-Ae Shin (2008, 2012), 스포츠토토 Jang Jeong (2005) and Se-Ri Park (2001).
“I struggled with the wind, I think it was the most windy this week, but I focused a little bit better in the second half,” Kim told the LPGA Tour after the tournament, “I think my short game and my putting went really well, so I’m really happy with the way I ended up with a good score. I hope I can capitalize on this feeling tomorrow.”
Ji-Ae Shin is tied for seventh place with a 5-under par total. “Overall, my ball striking was good, and the only place I struggled was on the greens,” said Shin. “The wind was blowing so hard that I had to aim far to the left or right when playing the course. I tried to trust the wind and trust myself, and that worked out well. There were a lot more Koreans here than yesterday, so that helped a lot.”
Yang Hee-young is tied for ninth at 4-under, Lee Jeong-six is tied for 15th at 2-under, and Ko Jin-young, Kim Arim, 스포츠토토맨 and Shin Ji-eun are tied for 17th at 1-under.
