‘It’s sweltering’: Man City enjoy open training in front of Korean fans
SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) – English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester City, which is in South Korea for a pre-season match, showed its true colors as it held a fun training session in front of Korean soccer fans despite the sweltering 35-degree weather.City, led by Pep Guardiola (Spain), held an open training session in front of fans at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Monday afternoon.City, who won the UEFA Champions League (UCL), EPL title and English Football Association (FA) Cup last season to become only the second English team in history to win a European treble (triple) after Manchester United in 1998-1999, traveled to Korea for pre-season matches in preparation for the 2023-2024 season.After arriving at Incheon International Airport on Sept. 27, City will play a friendly match against Spanish club Atletico Madrid at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sept. 30, starting at 8 p.m.Despite the sweltering weather, with the casinositekingcom temperature reaching 35 degrees Celsius, the fans were excited as they began to gather at the stadium at 4 p.m. with handheld mini fans and cold drinks in both hands.After a quick exit from the airport with smiles and hand gestures to fans who had been waiting for more than three hours at the arrivals hall, the City squad was back in front of the fans at 6pm.Despite temperatures still hovering around 30 degrees Celsius, the nearly 20,000 fans, each wearing a blue City jersey or waving one in each hand, greeted them with cheers and applause.In an open training session open to the media for about 15 minutes, about half of the squad in light blue team tracksuits and orange vests went through simple ball-keeping drills.’Monster striker’ Elling Holland, whose long blond hair was tied back in a white headband, went sleeveless, while Jack Grealish, whose arms were shielded from the strong sun by a long-sleeved tracksuit, showed an occasional smile.
