Son Heung-min launches limited edition soccer boots with Korean name first Asian athlete to do so
A limited edition soccer shoe featuring the Korean name of Son Heung-min (Tottenham) has been released. This is the first time that global sports brand Adidas has produced a limited edition soccer shoe for an Asian athlete.
Adidas announced on Monday that it has released a special limited edition soccer shoe, the HMS PACK, to celebrate 15 years of working with Son Heung-min.
While Adidas has released a number of limited edition soccer shoes for world-class players such as Lionel Messi (Argentina), David Beckham (England), and Zinedine Zidane (France), this is the first for an Asian player.
The limited edition shoe features a variety of neon colors inspired by Seoul’s night skyline and features Son Heung-min’s name in Korean characters on the side.
Adidas is also releasing a special animated video to celebrate the limited edition release.
From his debut goal in Hamburg (Germany) in 2010, to his wonder goal against Burnley that won him the Puskas Award in 2020, to the moment he won the Golden Boot (top scorer) award in 2022, to the mask he threw off in the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“The brand and Son Heung-min have been together for a long time, so we wanted to celebrate their shared paths and capture moments that felt authentic and inspired by the colorful neon lights of Seoul nights,” said an Adidas representative.
“With many Korean athletes gaining global attention in recent years, we look forward to releasing more limited edition soccer shoes for Korean athletes, 한국야동 starting with this Son Heung-min pack.”
