Continued high temperature phenomenon Professional baseball game time adjustment inevitable

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) recently announced that it will reexamine regulations and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of spectators and players due to the heat wave.
KBO Secretary-General Park Geun-chan said in a phone call with Yonhap News on the 4th, “KBO considers the safety of spectators, players, and professional baseball staff as its top priority,” and “We will consider ways to create a professional baseball environment that is safe for everyone while also not causing disruption to league operations.”
Recently, at a professional baseball game, an accident occurred where many spectators collapsed from heat-related illness while watching the game in the scorching heat.
At the match between SSG Landers and Samsung Lions held at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on the 2nd, according to Samsung club statistics, 4 spectators were transported by ambulance due to heatstroke symptoms, and on the 3rd, 1 spectator was treated in the infirmary at Ulsan Munsu Stadium.
On the 3rd, 4 patients with heatstroke occurred 스포츠 at Jamsil Stadium, all of whom were taken to the hospital by ambulance, and 1 person was treated in the infirmary before returning home.
KBO recently made the decision to ‘cancel games due to heat waves’ for the first time ever.
The LG Twins-Lotte Giants game scheduled to be held at Ulsan Munsu Stadium on the 2nd was canceled for the first time ever due to heat waves, and the Kiwoom Heroes-Doosan Bears game and Ulsan LG-Lotte game scheduled to be held at Seoul Jamsil Stadium on the 4th were canceled again due to heat waves.
The problem is what happens going forward.
The heat wave is expected to continue for some time. However, from the KBO’s perspective, it is not possible to continue to cancel games without warning.
Already, professional baseball has had many games canceled during the rainy season.
If a series of games are canceled during a heat wave, the regular season schedule will be pushed back and league operations will be disrupted.
The heat wave problem is not a short-term problem that will end this year.
Recently, the Korean Peninsula has been experiencing longer summer heat waves due to abnormally high temperatures caused by climate change.
