Lee scores third top-10 of season at 3M Opener…keeps PO hopes alive

South Korea’s Lee Kyung-hoon kept his playoff hopes alive with his third top-10 of the season on the PGA Tour.

Lee carded four birdies and one bogey in the fourth round of the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities (par-71) in Blaine, Minnesota, on Monday (Sept. 29) to cut three strokes off his score on the final day.

His 12-under-par 272 total puts him in a tie for ninth place and moves him from 112th to 97th in the FedExCup points standings.

Lee will need to finish in the top 70 in the FedExCup standings after the final PGA Tour regular-season event, the Wyndham Championship, which begins Aug. 8 to qualify for the playoffs.

Lee, who was two strokes back through the 13th hole, put his ball on the green with his second shot on the 18th (par-5) and then two-putted for birdie to move into the top 10.

The tournament was won by Jonatan Vegas (Venezuela) with a total of 17-under 267.

Vegas was in contention until the final round when he sank a one-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole to seal the victory.

Vegas earned $1.48 million in prize money for his fourth PGA Tour victory in seven years and first since the RBC Canadian Open in July 2017.

Max Grasserman (USA), who made his PGA Tour debut this year, shaved eight strokes off the lead to finish at 16-under 268 and set up a playoff, but Vegas’ last-hole birdie denied him the chance. 메이저사이트
