Top pitcher NC Peddie nervous about big league interest…gives up 7 runs in 3 innings
Eric Peddie (NC Dinos), the best pitcher in the KBO this season, was destroyed by his worst pitch.
Peddy was removed from the game against the visiting Kia Tigers of the 2023 KBO League at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on Aug. 31 after giving up seven runs on eight hits and three walks in the first three innings.
Peddy was 16-5 with a 1.97 ERA and first in the league in both categories the day before, but the Kia bats took a beating and he was pulled early.
A number of scouts from American Major League Baseball clubs were watching the game at Champions Field, but Pedi was not at his best.
After giving up a leadoff double to Choi Hyung-woo in the first inning, Peddie gave up six runs on seven hits and a walk in the third inning, and completely collapsed.
Trailing 1-3 in the bottom of the third inning, KIA got a run back when Park Chan-ho drew a walk and stole second base, and Kim Do-young followed with a single to right-center.
In the next inning, five consecutive hits by Choi Hyung-woo, Socrates, Kim Sun-bin, Kim Tae-gun, and Byun Woo-hyuk scored three runs to make it 5-3.
Two batters later, Park Chan-ho hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 7-3.
Pedi, who gave up the most runs in the fewest innings this season, also saw his ERA soar to 2.39.
NC substituted Shin Min-hyuk for Pedi on defense in the bottom of the fourth inning, but KIA extended the lead to 8-3 with a solo home run by Na Sung-beom. 파워볼
