Kim Chan ‘Fantastic Caesar Kick’ K League 2 Busan defeats Cheonan 1-0 to jump to 2nd place
Professional soccer’s K League 2 Busan I-Park has reclaimed second place in the league standings with a win over bottom-placed Cheonan City FC, extending its unbeaten streak to three games.Busan defeated Cheonan 1-0 at home in the 25th round of the K League Two 2023 at Gudok Stadium on Friday.With two wins and a draw in their last three league games, Busan jumped two spots to second place with 41 points. They are one point behind leaders Gimcheon Sangmu (42), 스포츠토토존 who have played one game less.Busan reclaimed second place for the first time in about a month since July 9.After beating Seongnam FC 3-2 on Sept. 23 for its first win of the season in its opening 21 games, the club has since slipped back to back defeats and has failed to climb out of last place (eight points) in the 13-team field.Busan took the lead in the 39th minute on a picturesque Caesar’s kick from Kim Chan on the left side of the penalty area and held on to the lead until the end.Cheonan, who missed a golden opportunity to equalize in first-half stoppage time when Paulinho’s surprise mid-range shot was blocked by goalkeeper Koo Sang-min, hung their heads in shame as they were denied by Koo on several occasions in the second half.At the Gimpo Solter Soccer Stadium, Gimpo FC defeated FC Anyang 1-0 to end a two-match winless streak (one draw and one loss) and move up to third place (39 points).Anyang, who were in second place the day before, slipped to fourth place (38 points) after failing to capitalize on the momentum from their win over leaders Gimcheon last game.Gimpo’s Lewis scored the winning goal in the 38th minute, finishing Song Chang-seok’s left flank cross with a powerful header.Lewis, who hasn’t scored in a league match since June 25 against the Jeonnam Dragons, pulled within two goals of top scorer Gleason (Gyeongnam-11) with his ninth goal.Seventh-ranked Jeonnam held on for a 1-0 victory over sixth-ranked Bucheon FC at Anbang Gwangyang Stadium to move to 34 points and stay within one point of Bucheon (35).Third-place Gimpo and seventh-place Jeonnam are now within five points of each other.Jeonnam extended its unbeaten run at home in the league to nine matches (six wins and three draws).Bucheon was held scoreless for the fourth 스포츠토토존 consecutive match, dropping to winless (2-2-2).Just nine minutes into the match, Lee Seok-hyun’s cross from the left flank was met by Go Tae-won’s header, which rattled the net and proved to be the game-winner.
